Modernizing Urban Renewal

After facing community resistance about urban renewal development projects, the Parker Authority for Reinvestment (PAR) decided to start fresh in a new direction. PAR needed a new image that supported their mission and they wanted ongoing communication outreach that fostered community trust. Their existing name did not capture the value of their community services and residents did not understand how PAR improved the Town. Slate helped PAR evolve into P3, Partnering for Parker’s Progress, which now focuses on improving external communications through a new image.

How It Happened

To understand PAR’s existing reputation, we spoke with Town staff, Council members and residents to find the community didn’t know enough about PAR’s services or mission. This feedback guided Slate to create a new name to clarify PAR’s mission along with a new logo. PARAC, staff, and the PAR board unanimously agreed on the name P3, Partnering for Parker’s Progress, and the accompanying logo. To promote the new direction of P3, Slate created a marketing strategy to share their ongoing messages to developers and businesses. Continuous execution of this strategy looks like:
