Slate Communications is seeking full-time marketing assistant to join our growing marketing and public relations firm. This position will work under the management of the Chief Communications Officer by fulfilling the communications and project management needs of the firm. We enjoy what we do, and believe the work fulfills the needs of our clients; we're looking for a Marketing Assistant who is willing to learn and teach us as well. The workload offers a lot of variety and the opportunity to work with a great team. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Assist project managers with client support

  • Edit and upload website content for project managers

  • Proof and edit content

  • Assist and monitor social media outreach

  • Help create marketing and communication campaigns

  • Coordinates production with external vendors including marketing agencies, mail houses, printers, media and independent contractors

  • Coordinate development of projects including posters, fliers, brochures, newsletters, speaking notes, invitations, calendars, ads, presentations, video storyboards, press releases, and feature stories

  • Organize photo and video libraries

  • May create, coordinate and assist with production of videos

  • Contributes to coordination of quality control procedures for producing high quality publicity materials that will be distributed to the public

  • Potential to management smaller client projects

  • On-site event attendance for clients

  • Coordinates staff involvement in various types of public events

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with Slate staff, vendors and the general public

  • Proficient in use of personal computer and a variety of software packages, including Word, Power Point, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and project management programs

  • Experience with website CMS (WordPress & Drupal) required

  • Experience with email clients (Mailchimp)

  • Proficiency in all aspects of social media, including best practices on approved platforms, and metric tracking

  • Proficient in using Sprout Social

  • Organizational and technical skills to schedule and manage social media and website updates

  • Applicant must be detailed oriented and include in their cover letter their favorite candy

  • Ability to research, write, and edit information to develop a final product that is customer-friendly

  • Photography and video skills desired

  • Ability to manage multiple work assignments and meet strict deadlines

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or Communications or related field from an accredited college or university, 1 year or more related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with AP style writing required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Current driver's license.
