Being home to one of the best ski resorts in Colorado in the winter and housing the “Fastest Growing Bike Park" in the summer, the Town of Winter Park had to determine it’s true identity of supporting locals and welcoming visitors. Winter Park needed a brand and new logo that captured their future town direction and an ongoing communications strategy to strengthen their relationship with full time and part time locals.

The Branding Process
As a mountain resort town with about 1,100 residents, it was important that we gathered community input during the creation of the new logo. Through community engagement we recognized residents were excited to become prideful champions of the Town’s new image. The community wanted to be seen as an authentic, active mountain town. After three logo comps, two rounds of revisions and collaboration with staff, Winter Park unanimously decided on one logo.
With limited external communications, the Town identified the need to improve transparency and citizen communications. In tandem with the branding process, Slate worked with Town staff and Council to build a foundation for strong communications through:

■ Public relations with local media
■ Social media creation and management
